Prescribed burns are a crucial management tool for maintaining healthy ecosystems in the Midwest. These controlled burns are used to mimic the natural wildfilres that were once common in these areas, promoting the growth of native grasses and wildflowers while also reducing the risk of destructive wildfires. They help control and decrease the spread of invasive plant species. Mid-Missouri River Prescribed Burn Association focuses on reducing the spread of the eastern Red Cedar tree.
